Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born on the 8th of July, 1989 in Paris. When she was just five, she moved to Oxfordshire and attended her first Dragon School. Emma chose to be an actor when she was six. For several years, she attended the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. There she learned singing dance, acting and singing. At the age of ten, she took part and played the leading role in numerous Stagecoach School plays and productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the movie version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was first cast in 1999. Emma was initially discovered as a casting representative by her Oxford teacher of drama. David Heyman told Emma along together with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after having 8 consecutive auditions. Emma's debut on screen took place with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's debut in 2001. The film set records for opening-day sales and opening-weekend takings as well as being the most-grossing feature of 2001. Critics gave high praise to the film, particularly the younger actors. The Daily Telegraph in Britain, which is widely distributed, called her performance commendable. Emma later won five awards in recognition of her work in the film.
